Naomi Annand

Naomi has been teaching yoga full time since 2002. Over this time she has developed a deeply compassionate style of teaching that emphasises the therapeutic benefits of yoga and also its potential to uplift and inspire. In 2012, she set up Yoga on the Lane with the intention of creating a dynamic community of teachers and students united by their commitment to practicing mindful, breath-led, vinyasa yoga. And then, in 2015, she designed the 200hr Yoga on the Lane Teacher Training Programme, which has set more than fifty brilliant new teachers off on their own paths.  In October 2019 her first book, Yoga: A Manual for Life has been published by Bloomsbury, and is currently being translated into four other languages.

Elisa de Grey

I first came to yoga, like many people, in a time of need.  In the beginning I couldn’t believe something as simple as breathing coordinated with movement could completely change the way I felt.  I am still amazed by its powerful simplicity, which convinces me that it is for everyone.  I watch students and friends who encounter yoga find greater ease within themselves, ease that is at first transient, but gains momentum and endurance.  That ease is expressed as they make their gesture in the world. Finding moments of peace and balance in an environment that is often challenging and competitive is radical.  The more this translates into everyday life the more far-reaching and important yoga and similar practices become. I encourage people to participate in yoga to gain therapeutic benefits, to expand creativity and well-being, and also to use the practice to enhance and evolve an existential and spiritual enquiry. The classes I teach are generally mindful vinyasa. I am interested in creating a safe, challenging practice that engages all elements of mind, body, spirit and breath. For me, practicing yoga has opened up the whole mystery of human existence, whilst confirming that the many clues to living a good life lie within, or are simply hiding in plain sight.

Annie Rice

I came to yoga as a way to recover from long runs. My body responded well to not being pushed so relentlessly and a wonderful teacher gradually persuaded me to stay for Savasana, until I was eventually comfortable being still. Gradually yoga has become my work. I still run, but less relentlessly, and am most interested in making yoga accessible and useful for us as we need it. My reason to teach is to support people in building a trusting relationship with their own body and to feel strong and confident in knowing their own practice and what is best for them.

Huma Jalil

Huma grew up in Islamabad, the majestic Himalayan foothills of Pakistan and this is where as a teenager the initial seed of Yoga was planted.  At age 21 she moved to London and completed an MA in Social Anthropology at SOAS University. This passion for and interest in the mystical and messy human condition continues to nourish and inform her practise. Her classes focus on breath awareness, alignment, and the interconnected nature of matter, mind and spirit.  The methodology is both intuitive and steeped in the traditional aspects of yoga inspired by some thousands of hours of study and personal practise.  She views the science and art of Yoga as a sacred life long journey revealing to us the extraordinary and infinite within the rich, interwoven tapestry of our everyday lives and the natural world.  Huma feels blessed to have found this path that guides us back to our hearts, heals the body and elevates our consciousness, while creating a counter balance to the stresses and distractions of modern life.
